Ready to emBARK on Pet Health? Join Tiffani Thiessen.

In February, I was fortunate enough to join Sergeant’s Pet Care Products in Orlando, Florida for the annual Global Pet Expo. It was a pleasure to interact with so many people who share my passion for pets. During the conference I was able to lend my voice on behalf of Sergeant’s emBARK on Pet Health campaign to media and others in attendance at the press conference. It was a perfect time to share the campaign story and showcase the pet health kits that will be shipped to shelters nationwide with the help of American Humane Association.

Now that February’s Responsible Pet Owners month has come to a close it’s important to understand that taking care of your pet’s ongoing health needs is not over. It’s something we need to be mindful of each and every day. It’s why the emBARK on Pet Health website was designed to give readers a place to find tips, tricks and reminders on keeping their pets healthy throughout the year.

Using March as an example, in the calendar section on the site readers can find useful tips for pet nutrition as March is Pet Nutrition Month. Some of these tips include:

  • Make sure you’re factoring treats into your pet’s overall daily diet. Not sure how much to feed your pet? Talk with your veterinarian. They can also help you understand specific nutritional needs, like how much protein or how many vegetables your pet needs.
  • If you’re using treats to train your pet, consider breaking the treat into small pieces or alternating with other forms of encouragement, i.e., a belly rub or game of fetch.
  • Take your dog on a walk for 30 minutes daily. Play games with cats or have them chase toys around the house for exercise.

Please continue to visit the embarkonpethealth.com website throughout the year for more timely pet health tips and don’t forget to take the pet health pledge so that a shelter dog will receive the items it needs to fully embark on health upon adoption. We are about half way to our goal of 5,000 pledges so please visit the site and take the pledge for pet health today!
